It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Hilton, until recently a parish councillor of very long standing. David died on 03 March following several months of illness.
David was a very well liked and highly respected member of both the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead and of Sunninghill & Ascot Parish Council for many years and was known for his professionalism, leadership, his expertise in planning and his passion for his community.
At borough level David served as Lead Member for Finance. At parish level, David was Vice-Chairman of the Planning Committee and sat on the Finance & Personnel Committee. He had keen financial instincts and he took well informed decisions at council meetings. David also regularly represented the parish council in meetings and discussions with developers and borough officers involved in the rejuvenation of Ascot. He was always intensely interested in all council matters and supported and volunteered to assist with its various events without hesitation.
David, with his wife Barbara, lived in Ascot for over 20 years; he was a dedicated public servant who worked tirelessly in the community. He was a founding member of the Ascot Neighbourhood Action Group and the Ascot Project, and was chairman of the Ascot Fire Brigade Trust as well as sitting on the Noise & Airspace Community Forum.
David’s passing is a great loss to the Ascot community and he will be sorely missed.
