Following a maintenance review of Sunninghill Cemetery, it has come to our attention that several of the graves have memorials that are spreading outside the size and style permitted in the terms and conditions as detailed in the burial deeds.
As deed holders will be aware, an area of 18 inches is available to plant out as a personal tribute or for placing fresh flowers, but the rest of the area is to be left completely clear to enable regular garden & site maintenance.
The Parish Council respectfully requests that any memorial items, either temporary or permanent, that do not comply with the terms and conditions as stated on the deeds, be removed by the end of January. Our maintenance contractors will be working in the cemetery at the beginning of February and will remove and dispose of anything found to be outside the permitted size and style.
Sunninghill Cemetery is in a very peaceful and rural setting, which greatly enhances the tranquil atmosphere to be found there. Due to the nature of this, various wildlife is frequently seen. Therefore, we ask that anything placed on the graves to be fully biodegradable to respect the ecology of the area.
A comprehensive list of conditions for memorials can be found here.
