We have received the following newsletter from St William Homes regarding the redevelopment of the former Sunninghill Gas Works.
Following receiving planning permission for the redevelopment of the former Sunninghill Gas Works site I am pleased to inform you that we are now safely able to start on site to deliver our vision for a residential community of 76 new homes, including 2-5 bedroom houses and 1-2 bedroom apartments. The scheme will include further benefits by remediating a former gas works to deliver not only much needed housing, but beautifully landscaped green space such as the new village green as well as an overall improvement in biodiversity for the site.
To deliver these benefits, as of Monday 15 March 2021 enabling works including demolition and remediation will commence. We work in accordance with both the British Building Regulations and Considerate Construction scheme and so our works will be undertaken with the greatest respect for the local community to limit any disruption.
Sunninghill proposed layout
Given the sites history as a gas works, a key part of our redevelopment is the improvement of the ground quality and the cleaning up of the site to ensure it is suitable for residential use and to further improve the local environment. Whilst undertaking the cleanup of the site you may experience some slight odours but I wanted to assure you this is perfectly normal and in line with our approved remediation strategy in order to improve the ground conditions. These works will be carefully monitored and managed by the team on site and at St William we have a vast experience of cleaning up and delivering beautiful new homes on previously redundant gas works as part of our partnership with National Grid. As the development continues, we will update you and keep you informed of our further progress via our newsletter.
If you have any questions or require any additional information please email your suggestions to:

Should you have any more immediate concerns whilst work is being undertaken, please do not hesitate to contact me or the team via our Head Office on 01753 784400.
And finally I would like to draw your attention to the inherent dangers of building sites, in particular for children, and request that no unauthorised visits are made onto the site.
Thank you in advance for your understanding
